Deb Strain started out on her career path as an art teacher, but in the early 90's left her teaching job to devote herself full-time to her artwork, family and stationery business, Saltbox Illustrations.
Family, friends, home and garden serve as the inspiration and backdrop for Deb's vibrant paintings. Deb draws on her own life experiences - growing up in scenic ohio, visiting her grandparents' farm as a child, or enjoying the hummingbirds, bees, frogs and flowers that populate her garden - to create heartwarming snapshots of life in a simpler, calmer, gentler time.
Collecting scraps of images from everyday life, she meticulously pieces these diverse ideas together into a coherent whole, using her canvas the way a master quilter uses bits of cloth from treasured keepsakes.
Deb presently resides in Gettysburg, Ohio with her devoted husband, Scott, in the saltbox home that they built themselves, along with their three beloved children and a menagerie of cats, dogs, squirrels, raccoons, and the occasional wayward deer.
