Folk Art by DAVID
Born in Waverly, Ohio, David now resides just 15 miles from his birthplace in beautiful Chillicothe, Ohio.
“I absolutely love this area of Ohio. The rolling hills and peaceful setting brings inspiration for my work.”
His art has been described as “simplistic” and “down home,” bringing to life many memories for those who favor his style. His choice of medium is acrylic on antique board. “When I was younger, I would spend summers on my Grandparents’ farm. There were always old scraps of boards lying around and when the nearest art supply store is more than 70 miles away, you learn to use what you find!” The idea of antique wood “fits” David’s style and when it is not readily available, he uses a series of steps to give the work the illusion of age.
Some of his favorite images are cats, sheep and of course snowmen. “ These images make it possible to have some fun with the art.” No matter the subject, the finished piece still reflects the warm tones and distressing David has become known for.
