Artist Melissa Saylor was raised in Albany, Oregon. She is a third generation born in Albany and is now raising two children of her own. Melissa lives with her husband Steve and their children in a home on the historic register. The inspiration for Melissa's watercolors is found in her own backyard and different areas around Willamette Valley. She is an avid gardener and is always on the lookout for painting ideas. Melissa began painting in watercolor when she was 14 years old and has never stopped. She has a background in advertising and was an editorial artist for one of Oregon's largest newspapers, the Salem Statesman Journal for 8 years. She has also taught watercolor at the local community college, but is most happy spending time with her family, painting and working on community activities.
